Gentle lighting suits them best. They need hard and basic water rich in oxygen. Occupies all parts of the aquarium. The fish is very sensitive to stress, does not tolerate strong light, hatcheries or traps, net fishing can be critical for it.
Food
So omnivores, they like to eat various flakes, micro-worms, fleas, artemia, ...
Reproduction
The exception in the family is Tomeurus gracilis oviparous. Fertilization is internal as the male has gonopods, but mostly females soon after fertilization it lays sticky eggs among aquatic plants. A unique way of reproduction, the female lays eggs at different stages of development, possibly after a few days or practically just before embryo development is complete. All this is conditioned by various environmental factors. The eggs can be seen through the transparent body of the female.
Biologists and breeders of this fish around the world are still studying the life and reproduction of this mysterious fish.
Trivia
Floating plants and plants that reach the water level have a calming effect on fish, as they calm down and hide between them on the surface, thus relieving stress. These small gentle creatures, little reminiscent of Alfaro cultratus , are also close relatives. A long body with a small head and large eyes is translucent-brown-yellow with dots and a thin black line down the middle of the body. Fins transparent to yellowish, dorsal fin shifted far back. The gonopod is long. Certain sources cite the use of brackish water in the prevention of bacterial infections, which usually leads to the death of fish.
