Cultivation
We grow gambusia in our aquarium because it is not exactly tolerant of other fish in the aquarium. Fish flock.
The aquarium is prepared from fine gravel and lush vegetation, on the surface of floating plants.
Gambusia does not like strong water flow, otherwise very tolerant fish in terms of parameters.
Food
It is an omnivore, little by little it is best not to forget the source of plant foods.
Coloration
Its back is brown / gray / green, the gill covers are light blue, behind the gills is short light blue line. Belly is silver. The black line runs vertically across both eyes. The dorsal fin and tail are transparent with a black border, with many black dots.
Reproduction
Males are tireless in courting and so let’s have three to five females per male.
The female grows after 30 days up to 100 pups, the number of pups determines the size and age of the female.
We feed the young with nauplii artemia and microvessels.
They reach sexual maturity between six and twelve months of age.
Interesting
Gambusia has been relied on in more parts of the world as a mosquito repellent and so today it inhabits virtually the entire world.
An adult female can eat 100 or more mosquito larvae daily.
